In her article “Pizza Time,” sociologist Sandra Kim argues that the only way to establish world peace is by the mass consumption of pizza. Focusing on the eating habits of U.N. leaders, she shows how global citizens can benefit by sending large orders of pizza to their elected ambassadors. Kim makes an early appeal to pathos in her article in order to remind her audience of the pleasures of pizza. She writes, “Remember the last time you ate a delicious pizza slice? Remember how good you felt?” (Kim). By placing the reader in a memory of comfort and enjoyment, Kim attempts to persuade the audience of the universally pleasurable quality of pizza.
